Indoor Track Meet

Last year, FRNY hosted over 250 athletes of all ages and abilities—from high schoolers to masters athletes. We welcome all runners and strongly encourage you to participate.

When: Saturday, March 26th @ 5pm

Where: New Balance Track and Field Center at The Armory located at 168 St. and Fort Washington Avenue in Upper Manhattan.

The entry fee is $20 plus a transaction fee of $4 per athlete before Wednesday, March 23, 2016, which entitles you to run as many races as you want, including relays. Entry fee is $30 on the day of the event.

Order of events:

  • 1500 m run
  • 4X200 m relay
  • 60 m run 
Distance Medley Relay (1200-400-800-1600 m)
  • 400 m run
  • 4X800 m relay
  • 200 m run
  • 4X400 m relay

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Sign up for to your chosen events at the time of registration. There will only be ONE opportunity to make changes (add name/scratch) to your registration on the day of the event. No changes will be allowed after the start of the 60-meter dash event.

  • Age groups (0-19, 20s, 30s, 40s, etc.)
  • Awards (top 3 overall, plus three in each age group, with duplication)
  • Relays (Men, Women, Mixed Gender)
  • All events are finals
  • Races are seeded based on time and the age groups are separated only for scoring

    FRNY Track Meet FAQs

    When and where is the FRNY track meet taking place?
The track meet will start at 5pm on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Armory Track and Field Center located at 216 Fort Washington Ave New York, NY 10032. To get to the Armory Track, take the 1, A or C train to 168th Street.

    Is the track meet open to all runners?
Anyone who is 18 years of age or older, or who is 14-17 years of age and has written parental consent, is eligible to participate in the FRNY Track Meet.

    How can I register for the meet?
You can register each individual athlete online. Click here to register! Otherwise, you may also register on the day of the meet. There is a fee increase on the day of the meet. Entry fee is $30 on the day of the event.

    What is the entrance fee for individuals and relays?
The entry fee of the meet is $20 plus a transaction fee of $4 per athlete before Wednesday, March 23, 2016, which entitles you to run as many races as you want, including relays. All relay members must be registered, and the same $20 plus a transaction fee of $4 fee applies for relay runners, even if you do not plan on running any individual events. We encourage you to run multiple events, as there is no limit.

    Online pre-registration is encouraged. On the day of the event, cash is preferred. Checks will be accepted, and can be made out to Front Runners New York. Credit Cards will also be accepted.     What is a Distance Medley Relay?

    A Distance Medley Relay (DMR) is a four-person relay in which each athlete on the team runs a different distance around the track. The order of distances is traditionally 1200m, 400m, 800m, and 1600m, for a total course distance of 4000m (20 laps).

    The DMR is an exciting opportunity to bring short-distance and long-distance track athletes in on the same event!

    Are there awards?

    Yes! Urban Athletics gift cards will be awarded to top male and female finishers at selected events.

    What are the age groups for medals?
Age groups for medals will be under 19 years, 20-29 years, 30-39 years, 40-49 years, 50-59 years, 60-69 years, & 70+ years.

    Is the meet sanctioned by USATF?

    Yes. The meet is USATF sanctioned, but you do not need to be a USATF member to participate in the meet.

    What is the gender order for each race?
Women will run before men in every event. Smaller races may be conducted with women and men together, but will be announced in advance.

    Can I wear track spikes?
You are allowed to wear up to ¼ inch pyramid spikes.  This will be enforced by Armory staff prior to racing.

    Is there going to be FAT Timing?
Yes. All events are fully automatic timed.

    Is there a locker room to change clothes?
No, but bathrooms are located on the second floor and third floor of the Armory and can be used to change clothing.
