Welcome to FRNY multisport! We offer weekly swims and bike rides, instructional workshops, social events, and goal races. For further information, please email coordinators Matt Frank, Jeff Grossman and Marcus Woollen.

Multisport Coordinators

Matt Frank has been in New York since 2004, and active with FRNY since 2013.  His proudest multisport moments since then include an Olympic-distance triathlon, joggling the Brooklyn Pride Run, and a talk on "what to do with your legs when you're not running".  You can find him at the pool, at the fun runs, and biking around the city.

When Jeff Grossman joined Front Runners in 2011, the longest he had run was five miles, which he had done exactly twice. On his first fun run, he ran the entire loop of Central Park because he wasn’t sure where the transverses were. Since then, he has completed the club’s beginners’ clinic, two half-marathons, two sprint triathlons, and NYRR’s 9+1 program to qualify for the marathon this November. He is also looking forward to his first Olympic triathlon.

After a decade on the stage, Marcus Woollen became a theater marketing specialist… and after a decade behind a desk came many extra pounds. in 2010 ago Marcus began a journey towards fitness by biking to work. A year later he joined Front Runners right after the Pride Run and began running again.  And in 2012 Marcus ran his first marathon in many years and completed his first triathlon.

Swimming Workouts

Please join us for our first swim at Sacred Heart tomorrow night! The swim will be from 7:45-8:45 pm, and we'll have six lanes all to ourselves. The pool is inside the Sacred Heart Athletics and Wellness Center, at 406 E. 91st St., between First and York. Please bring an ID and arrive a few minutes early to sign in at the front desk.

Keep in mind that you’ll need to sign a waiver form, and that you’ll need to be a current member of FRNY in order to swim. Membership in US Masters Swimming is also required except for your first time swimming with us.

Swimmers must be comfortable breathing, swimming 50 yards continuously (two laps of a 25-yard pool) with their face in the water, and swimming in deep water.

Advance sign-up and prepayment are required. The sign-up sheet is posted every Tuesday morning at about 7:15 a.m. for the following Monday’s swim.  Electronic  punch cards  good for give swims can be purchased for $45 each.

Please bring goggles and a swim cap to each swim.

Contact us if you have any questions.
