Board of Directors 2013

Dave Lin, President

Dave Lin_1

Dave is thrilled to be serving as President of Front Runners New York. He came to FRNY as a non-runner in 2006 because of a New Year’s resolution to get fit. Since then, he has run over 25 marathons or ultras, and completed an Ironman triathlon.  Dave served as Men’s Vice President in 2010-2011, was a Race Captain for two years, and received awards for Most Improved Runner and Front Runner of the Year.  He is a regular at the fun runs, multisport and track workouts, and (of course) social activities. Dave loves FRNY not only because of club’s support of runners and training, but for the camaraderie, friendship and inspiration that the members offer.

Matt Anderson, Men’s Vice President

Matt Anderson

Matt is excited to be serving as Men’s Vice-President of Front Runners New York in 2013.  Matt joined the club five years ago looking for a marathon training group that could help motivate him to do long runs.  It worked!  Matt has since run both the New York (multiple times) and Boston (a dream!) marathons with great success. He has also become a regular participant in the numerous NYRR races held throughout the City running proudly for Front Runners New York.

Taking advantage of the club’s great training programs and coaching, Matt increased his speed and was ultimately recognized as the Most Improved Runner in 2012.  Matt is now an active participant in all the club has to offer including the weekly fun runs, track workouts, and social events.  He looks forward to meeting you when you stop by and join us at our next run!

Bernie Janelle, Women’s Vice President

Bernie is ready to serve you, the members of Front Runners New York, as Women’s Vice President.  She will inspire and support beginner runners and walkers, recreational runners, competitive runners, and multisport athletes.  In addition, Bernie will strive to uphold the highest professionalism as a club leader.  She encourages each member to take an active role in the club.  Furthermore, she asks each member to hold the FRNY Board accountable for its actions.  Bernie plans to work together with the board and each member to maintain and sustain the purpose of the club.

Matt Kovich, Treasurer

MattMatt is thrilled to return to the FRNY board in 2013 as treasurer. He joined the club in 2011, and by the end of 2012 has represented FRNY in 23 races, distances varying from the 800 meter to a sprint triathlon to the marathon. His current running goals are to Boston Qualify and run an ultra-distance of 50 miles (or more!) When not running, swimming or biking, he works by day in the world of New York theatre, for a company that produces Broadway and Off-Broadway shows.

Bryce Rudyk, Secretary

Bryce Rudyk

Bryce has been a Front Runner since 2010 and a middle distance runner since middle school. In his non-running time, he teaches international environmental law at the NYU School of Law and runs a research program on climate change. Originally from Canada, he has lived in NYC for 6 years.

Katrina Amaro, Director at Large

katrina

Katrina has been a member of Front Runners New York since 2005. She came to the club as a new runner and has been addicted to road races and triathlons ever since. She served on the FRNY board from 2007 to 2009, but apparently didn’t get enough, because she’s back and ready to serve the club in 2013.

In addition to swimming, biking, and running, in her free time Katrina enjoys spending quality time with her fiancée, Leah, all things motion graphics, researching New York City history, and fun with nice people.

She looks forward to a great year with FRNY.

AJ Stachelek, Director at Large

AJ

AJ joined FRNY in January 2010, and couldn’t even run a mile. He is now an out and proud transman who has successfully competed in all distances of racing from the 100 meter to a half marathon, as well as multisport events including sprint and olympic triathlons and a 200 kilometer bike tour. This past year he served as a race captain, journeying near and far to cheer or participate in races with fellow Front Runners. He continues to recognize all the love and support the club has to offer its members, from improving athletic performance to increasing confidence and pride in being oneself.

AJ could not resist the opportunity to give back to the club, and is proud to have been selected to join the 2013 board as director at large.  AJ is excited to offer support to others in reaching their goals, as he knows how important such support is when it comes to living a healthy, honest, and happy life.
