Megan Jenkins, President
Megan is returning to the board for a fourth term, and her second as President of FRNY, in 2012. In addition to her commitment to nurturing FRNY’s many running, social, and charitable programs, Megan also represents the club as an active racer in sprint distances and middle distance road races. She is proud to be part of an LGBT organization that provides support for all runners and walkers, regardless of their pace, race distance, or weekly mileage.
Dave Lin, Men’s Vice President
Dave is thrilled to join the board as Men’s Vice President. Dave came to FRNY as a non-runner in 2006 because of a New Year’s resolution to get fit. Since then, he has run over a dozen marathons, competed in a Half-Ironman triathlon, served as a Race Captain for two years, and received the award for Most Improved Runner. He is a regular at the fun runs, multisport and track workouts, and (of course) social activities. Dave loves FRNY not only because of club’s support of runners and running, but for the camaraderie, friendship and inspiration that the members offer.
Sandi Rowe, Women’s Vice President
Sandi is proud to serve another year as Women’s Vice President. Since joining FRNY shortly before the 2008 NYC Marathon, Sandi has provided a lot of positive energy at many races, whether it be wearing a race number or cheering for her fellow Front Runner family. She is serious about improving herself as a runner and regularly participates in long runs and speed workouts to help better her times. Sandi shares her profession as an Art Director to develop and design materials for the club.
Anthony Ng, Treasurer
Anthony looks forward to his third term as Treasurer. He joined FRNY at the inception of the outdoor training 2008 season. In just a few weeks of running in Central Park and Riverbank State Park, he fell in love with the group and also the sport. To him, running is no longer simply a hobby, a means of exercise, but rather a passion and, at times an obsession. Anthony’s running goals for 2012 are to run 2 50 milers, the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and, of course, the NYRR Knickerbocker 60K.
Seth Richardson, Secretary
Seth joined Front Runners in 2007 and found a fun and welcoming group that also challenged him as a runner. With the support of FRNY’s excellent training programs, he has since tackled new distances and now has several marathons to add to his running resume. Seth served as the Race Director for the Pride Run in 2010 and 2011 and is excited to join the board as Secretary this year. In 2012, he plans to revive his interest in multisport and train for a triathlon with FRNY.
Matt Kovich, Director at Large
After running his first race, the 2011 Pride Run, Matt quickly became hooked, and is so happy to have found such a welcoming and loving new family at FRNY. He ran seven more races in 2011, from the Sunset and Suds 5k to the Jersey Pride Triathlon and the Staten Island Half Marathon. His running goals for 2012 are to run his first full marathon and complete an Olympic distance triathlon, in addition to competing in as many track meets as possible this season. When not running, swimming or biking, he works by day in the world of New York theatre, for a company that produces Broadway and Off-Broadway shows.
Gemma Sanz de la Serna, Director at Large
Gemma is excited to serve as a board member. Gemma came to FRNY as a non-runner in 2010. Since joining she has found an incredible and supportive community full of friends, mentors and role models. With their support Gemma has become a serious runner and has participated in several triathlons, has run her first half marathon in January and is now training for her first Marathon in the fall. She is proud to belong to an organization where everyone is welcomed, supported and encouraged to improve as an athlete.
