Fast approaching its 27th running, the FRNY Pride Run is the centerpiece of the club's yearly roster of races and social events.  What started out as a small race with just a few hundred runners in the early 80s has grown into an event with more than 2,000 runners of every stripe -- gay and lesbian, straight and bisexual, casual and competitive.  The five-mile course has, in fact, become quite well trod by runners from all over the world.    

The club makes this a true celebration of what it means to be a gay runner.  In that spirit, FRNY has a surprise guest "star" singing the national anthem to start the race, fun and lively music pumping to greet racers as they speed (or amble) toward the finish line, as well as many other glittery effects along the way.  But it isn't all about the pageantry--the competition is also fierce! The club bestows prizes to the top male and female finishers as well as bonus money for any course records set, which brings out top talent to this event.  

More Front Runners toe the line for this event than any other on the racing calendar so it is an awesome display of team camaraderie and athleticism.
