Front Runners participate in hundreds of races and meets all over the world. We have members who do marathons in such far-flung places as Patagonia and (yes, even) Antarctica, and we have triathletes who travel across the states to do races at scenic venues and who have done Ironman competitions on multiple continents. Every year, we have over 30 members who run a 200+ mile relay up in New Hampshire. FRNY members also travel and compete at every Gay Games and Out Games. We get groups together to run every distance, from track meets to cross country courses to 10Ks and marathons. The FRNY board strongly encourages participation and competition regardless of pace.
FRNY placed first of all teams in the NYRR "B Division" for 2003 and moved up to the "A Division" in 2004, competing head to head (or should we say foot to foot?) against some of the city's most elite runners.
Team members who are not running the race enthusiastically support those on the course in a true spirit of camaraderie. If you are running a race with Front Runners, meet up before the start at the number 5 baggage area to warm up and stretch as a group. After races, interested parties generally go to a local restaurant to eat and to talk about the race.
If you are running the race for Front Runners, we ask that you please wear your Front Runner singlet. If you do not have one, you can buy a singlet (or other FRNY merchandise) at any of the Central Park fun runs.
For 2008, Front Runners New York will host the International Front Runner Games. Front Runners from all over the world will come to New York City to compete in track & road races and to socialize and party with fellow runners and admirers.
